                One-day Consultative Round Table Meeting with Dam Mangers

                A one-day Consultative Round –Table meeting with SEMAs, Dam Managers and other Stakeholders in the South West Zone with the theme: Flood Prevention and Management A-way forward. On the 5th May 2011. The meeting was facilitated by South-West Zonal office to discuss ways on how to enhance communication amongst Stakeholders in the Zone on flood disaster as a result of release of water by Dam manager

  •     NEMA-World Bank/GFDRR Training on Disaster Damage and Loss Assessment
  •      The Zone participated at the NEMA-World Bank/GFDRR Training on Disaster Damage and         Loss Assessment at Asa Pyramid Hotel, Kaduna on the 13th -18th March 2011.
  •    Aviation Infrastructure Development in Nigeria: Challenges and solutions.
  •       A workshop on Aviation Infrastructure Development in Nigeria: Challenges & Solution,        organised by Output Communication on Thursday 28th July 2011 was attended by the Assistant Zonal Coordinator who read a goodwill message on behalf of the ZC. The Zone hosted a training workshop organized by the H/Qs for SEMAs, FRSC, NSCDC, Fire Service and other Stakeholders on Basic First Aid & Management of Road Traffic Accident (RTA) on 3rd-4th May 2011.
  •   Participation in a 2-day workshop on Emergency Response & Life Support by American Heart         Association on 29th-30th June 2011. The workshop was and to roll out the 2011 new international    resuscitation guidelines of the American Heart Association.
  •    In recognition of the Agency’s contribution in reducing the negative impact of disasters on vulnerable individuals and communities, the organizers conferred on the DG, an award in recognition of his contributions in this regard.
  •   ASSESSMENT OF DISASTERS
  •    Within the period under review the following assessments were carried out by the Zone:
  •    Assessment of Rainstorm Disaster in two LGAs of Ekiti State on 8th February 2011.
  •    Assessment of Rainstorm & Flood Disasters in eleven (11) LGAs of Oyo State on 1st March             2011.
  •    Assessment Oil leakage at FHA Diamond Estate in Alimosho Local Government Area on 12th              March 2011.
  •    Assessment of Osun State indigenes evacuated from Cote D’ Voire by Osun State in two(2)             LGAs     on 10th May 2011.
  •  Assessment of Fire & Rainstorm  Disaster in seven (7) LGAs of Ekiti State on 11th-12th May, 2011 Read more
