The operations office is headed by a zonal coordinator who is vested with a mandate of the general administration of the zone. Also the office has 29 other staff consisting of an Assistant Coordinator, 1 Principal Disaster Risk Reduction officer, 1 Principal Administrative officer, 2 Senior Planning officer, 2 Planning officers II, 1 Administration Officer I, 1 Operation officer I, 1 Search & Rescue Officer I,  1 Information Officer I, 1 Training officer II, 1 Electrical/Electronics Engineer II, 11 Search and Rescue officers II, 1  Accountant I, 2 Executive officers (call center), 1 Confidential Secretary I, 1 Data Processing officer and 2 Drivers.

3.0   Workshop/Training

3.1    Principal Disaster Risk Reduction Officer attended a meeting organized by the HQ on Year 2011 Season Prediction at the 6th Floor ITF Building on 21st February, 2011.

3.3   The Coordinator attended Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on Challenges of 2011 Floods Prevention, Mitigation & Preparedness held in Rockview Hotel Wuse II Abuja organized by NEMA in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Water Resources on 18th May, 2011.

3.4   Principal Disaster Risk Reduction Officer attended a Training on ‘’Drought and Flood Control’’ at Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi on 11th – 22nd April, 2011.

3.5       The Coordinator attended a Workshop on Disaster Management for Local Government Officials Organized by NEMA HQ on Tuesday 21st – 22nd June 2011.

3.6       The Coordinator attended a Workshop on “UN – SPIDER Technical Support & the Role of Space Based Technology for Disaster Management” organized by NEMA in collaboration with National Space Research & Development (NASRDA) and the host and the local organizers of the TAM at Fountain Hall Rockview Hotel Abuja on 14th June, 2011.

3.7       Senior Planning Officer attended a Training Workshop on Public Procurement organized by NEMA HQ at New Keffi Hotel, Nassarawa State on 27th – 29th June, 2011.

3.8       The Coordinator and the Head Search & Rescue attended a Training on Prevention, Combating & Responding to Terrorism for Search & Rescue Officers at Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alausa Ikeja, Lagos on 9th – 10th August, 2011.

3.9       Senior Planning Officer attended the Review & Clean – Up of the Reports on National Vulnerability & Capacity Analysis (VCA) Project organized by NEMA HQ in collaboration with UNICEF at Halal Fountain Hotel Kaduna from 9th – 11th August, 2011.

3.10    The Assistant Coordinator attended a Training on Chemical, Biological, Radiological Nuclear Awareness organized by NEMA HQ at Institute for Security Studies, Lower Usuman Dam, Bwari, Abuja on 12th – 16th September, 2011.

3.11     The Coordinator attended a Joint Management/Zonal Coordinators Meeting and a One – Day Consultative Meeting with Executive Secretaries/Head of SEMAs at Muna Hotel Ltd , Plot 4, Purakayo Road, Dougirei, Jimeta, Yola from 21st  – 22nd September, 2011.

3.12    The Coordinator attended & Participated in the Institute’s Annual National Management Conference 2011 and 50th Anniversary Celebrations held at International Conference Centre, Herbert Macaulay Road, Garki, Abuja on 25th – 28th September, 2011.

3.13    3 Research & Rescue Officers attended Training on Prevention, Combating & Responding to Terrorism for Search & Rescue Officers at Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry Alausa Ikeja, Lagos on 17th – 18th October, 2011.

3.14    Training Officer attended Training on Acquiring Effective Skills & Productivity Improvement at Doko International Hotel, Minna on 17th – 21st October, 2011.

3.15    Search & Rescue Officer attended Training on Safety & Health Management at University of Ibadan Consultancy Unit on 17th – 21st October, 2011.

3.16    The Coordinator and 2 Senior Staff attended a Workshop on the 2011 International Disaster Risk Reduction (IDRR) Day Celebration organized by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Social Development Secretariat at Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts & Culture, Area 10 Garki, Abuja on 27th October, 2011.

3.17    The Coordinator attended Training on First Responders to Nuclear & Radiological Emergency at Rockview Hotel Wuse II, Abuja on 24th – 28th October, 2011.

3.18    The Coordinator attended Training on Effective Leadership & Delegation at Administrative Staff College (ASCON) Badagry, Lagos on 7th – 11th November, 2011.

3.19    Two Search & Rescue Officers & A Driver attended Training of Paramedic Staff on Proper use of Equipment Installed in the Mobile Intensive Care Unit and Defensive Driving for Drivers at ITF Building Abuja on 21st – 25th November, 2011.

3.20   Data Processing Officer attended Training on Data Base Management System using MS ACCESS at University of Ibadan Consultancy Unit on 28th November – 2nd December, 2011.

3.21    5 Search & Rescue Officers attended Training on Prevention, Combating & Responding to Terrorism for Search & Rescue Officers at Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry Alausa Ikeja, Lagos on 6th – 7th December, 2011.

3.22   Two Search & Rescue Officers attended Training on Safety & Health Management at University of Ibadan Consultancy Unit on 19th – 23rd December, 2011.

3.23   Senior Planning Officer attended Training on Need Assessment, Research Methodology, Report Writing and Project Monitoring & Evaluation at University of Ibadan Consultancy Unit on 19th – 23rd December, 2011.

4.0   Relief Interventions     

4.1    Distribution of Relief items to victims of flood, fire and wind storm disaster in 9 Local Government Areas of Kogi State on the 17th – 21st January 2011.

5.0  Planned Activities

5.1    The Operations Office organized a sensitization campaign to commemorate the world Disaster Reduction Day Campaign with the theme “Making Children & Youth Partners in Disaster Risk Reduction” at Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja on the 20th October, 2011.
